In this blog, we’ll learn How to Create Card and Multi-row Card in PowerBI. Firstly, we must understand what it is and when we should use it.
Introduction to Card in PowerBI
- Card is best way to represent single data like total sales, total profit, etc.
- Multi-row Card is a variation of Card and can display multi data in it.
Dataset description
We’ll utilize a supermarket sales dataset with invoice ID, branch, city, customer type, gender, product line, unit price, quantity, tax, total amount, sale date and time, payment option, COGS, gross margin percentage, gross income, and buy rating in this tutorial. This dataset provides complete sales information, making it excellent for creating card in PowerBI.
You can access the dataset here.

What the Chart indicating:
Simple card shows that we are visualizing the sum of total sales and that is 25K from dataset.
The multi-row card shows how key measures change from month to month, such as between May and June. It shows the total amount sold, the earnings, the goal sales, and the number of items sold each month. This makes it easy to see how monthly performance compares to goals, showing how well sales and profits match up with them and how the amount sold changes from month to month for useful information.
Conclusion
With a card, we can view key numerical metrics or summarized data in a simple, straightforward way. A card typically displays a single, prominent number along with a label.
With multi-row cards, we can visualize multiple key metrics or summarized data points in a compact and organized format. A multi-row card displays multiple numbers and their corresponding labels in a series of rows.
